Human Body Systems
The eleven organ systems that keep the human body running.
| System | Function |
|---|---|
| Circulatory (cardiovascular) system | Pumps and transports blood to deliver oxygen and nutrients to cells and carry away wastes. |
| Respiratory system | Takes in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide through breathing and gas exchange. |
| Digestive system | Breaks down food into nutrients for absorption and eliminates solid waste. |
| Nervous system | Senses stimuli and coordinates body activities by transmitting electrical signals. |
| Muscular system | Enables movement, posture, and circulation through contraction of muscle tissue. |
| Skeletal system | Provides structural support, protects organs, and produces blood cells. |
| Endocrine system | Regulates body processes by secreting hormones into the bloodstream. |
| Integumentary system | Protects the body from the environment and helps regulate temperature. |
| Urinary (excretory) system | Filters blood to remove wastes and excess water, producing and expelling urine. |
| Reproductive system | Produces offspring and sex hormones through the production of gametes. |
| Lymphatic (immune) system | Defends against pathogens and returns excess tissue fluid to the bloodstream. |
